Our 1:1 Journey: Core Apps for Education

Introducing, our core educational apps to support our 1:1 digital technology rollout. We believe that these are some of the best tools out there to enhance learning in the classroom. Before deciding which apps should feature on this list we had to ensure they had a genuine impact on learning, they were available on different devices and also that they offer effective ways to complete specific tasks. Finally, we acknowledge that cost can be a major factor, which is why 9 out of our 10 featured core apps are free!

By introducing a set of core apps that are used across school, we can ensure consistency for both students and staff. This will enable users to become more familiar with apps as they use them, reducing the amount of time unnecessarily spent learning how to use new apps and will also encourage users to be more organised when using digital technology. Where appropriate, subject specific apps will also be introduced by departments to work in conjunction with our core apps.

Users who have an iPad are also encouraged to download the bundle of free applications from Apple, including Keynote, Numbers, Pages, iMovie and iTunes U, that comes with any new device. You should be prompted to download these when setting up your device for the first time. If not, they can all be found on the AppStore.

To download any of the apps on this list, simply choose whether you have an iOS or Android device and you will be taken to the apps page on the appropriate store:
